I had my sr20det running fine, then after revving it up it stalled. Assumed it was the mafs because i check the fuel pump, filter and it all checked out. Now that the mafs was changed it still just turns over, chokes then stalls. Took the ecu out and it checked out, when i put it back in now it runs even so you can rev it, (so its not the mafs now) but then it stalls after a min. Is there another sensor it could be or something with the ecu? thanks for any help, i cant figure this one out!

Give us some more details on the setup. Is this a DE+T or an imported DET? If either, what car did the parts/motor come from? Any engine management besides the stock ECU? Aftermarket fuel injectors? If a DE+T, what car is it in (B13, B14, B15, P10, P11) and what kind of engine management?

Are you getting any SES/CEL codes? If so, what codes?

Check out MAF connection again and check the voltages. Sounds like your car has gone into LIMP home mode, which is caused by the maf. But I also need to know what exactly your setup is before I can diagnose the problem.

So we really need to know the following and above:SR20DE or SR20DETIf a DET, which motorWhat ECU are your usingInjectorsTurbo upgraded or notAny piggy back systems to ECU...SAFC

The motor is in what type of car?

What ECU are you using? remapped JWT ECU, your cars OEM ECU, JDM ECU that came with motor?

What MAF are you using, your cars OEM MAF, MAF that goes with JDM motor?

I understand that it is an imported sr20det, since they weren't made over here. But there are several different types of motors. Example: Its either a Bluebird, Avenir or GTiR motor. Which one?

Read the Turbo FAQ, it gives a detailed description of each motor.zerothread?id=94868 scroll down about midway.

What type of o2 sensor are you using? OEM?

Need to know the answer to all the above questions.

OK, sorry not very descriptive the first time. The engine is currently in my 89 240sx, the engine itself is a red top from an s13 to the best of my knowledge. never heard of bluebird but if its the same as the silva then it would be the 89-91 im assuming. the ecu is the stock sr20det as well as the maf and o2 sensor. i did try converting the maf to the stock 240sx one but after that failed i bought a new sr20det maf and it still idles perfect until i connect the maf. thanks Derek

Haha, then this is in the wrong section, you're in the Sentra section right now.

I'm interested to see how this plays out, my FWD DET won't idle either, haha.

Hey Mike, what are the exact symptoms of limp mode and how do you get out of it?

Limp home mode means you can drive home at about 20mph. It won't idle properly or run properly at partial or full throttle. The normal cause is a problem with the MAF. Either bad, unplugged or way out of voltgage as far as grounding goes. So fix the MAF and that will solve your limp home mode.
