So im new here and new to nissans, got a 89 hatch with a sr20det redtop in it. When I got the car it smoked at idle unless u held rpms at 1500, turbo had massive in and out shaft play. Bought a used t25 with minimal shaft play and swapped it. Now im smoking any time at idle and clouds on decel, smoke has a bluish tint and is deff oil burning. Pulled downpipe off and I have oil in the turbo elbow but no oil in my exhaust manifold or in my hot pipe. Personally I believe it is the exhaust side of the turbo dumping oil but iv read other posts where people say valve seals or ring lands?? Besides the smoke the car runs great, what do u guys think?

Do a compression test. You could have 2 bad turbos on hand. Valve Seals or rings going out.

How are your vacuum lines connected where the T connects on the valve cover? Do you have a catch can or the stock air/oil separator?

Left side of "t" is ran to the factory intake tube, right side to stock catch can

No'one else having this problem? If it were rings or valve seals would I not see oil in exhaust manifold?

Probably would but over time but very thin sappy skin. But you dont swap turbos and mess up valve seals some how. If it didnt have it before and that was absolutely all you did, your turbo has to be blowing oil at the exhaust.

Before I had oil in my hot pipe, swapped turbos and now I have oil in exhaust. It smokes on takeoff and periodically when on development or idle

Did you ever figure it out ? I have a similar situation with my s14. It has an s13 blacktop swap and it smokes only every once in a while at idle only; I've noticed it really is only when I'm on a hill. It's definitly oil burning and the compression is fine. I see oil in the turbo elbo but not much else. Lastly it doesn't do it all the time and once I am moving it stops. It can not do it for days or weeks or it can do it every day at every stop. If anyone else knows or thinks it sounds the same let me know. I've already got another turbo but its a 2871 and I'll have to change MAF, injectors, and tune the ECU. If this is a bigger issue, there's no point in doing all this work...

No, lent my compression gauge to a buddy and have just been busy. It seems like its progressively getting better (its getting cold so that might have something to do with it). Also when it is smoking it mostly does it when i take off (like from a redlight) and gets worse in stop and go traffic. Have also ran into a new problem, i was running some s15 440s and 2 of them stuck open while on another car. I bought a set of deatschwerks 370s and my car is running lean, to the point where its breaking up at low rpm, swapped in a set of factory 370s and noticed no change... motor is all factory and was running fine with the 440s. Thought maybe there was a ecu tune for the 440s but #62 is untouched. Factory fpr, z32 filter, no kinked lines, pump is priming, all orings on injectors are new, and its doing it with both sets of my injectors so what else do i look for? Im running open dp so wideband is gona be off some, but its not even reading on my aem so its like 17+ afr. Iv noticed if i hit the gas and let off the afr will bounce down to like 13s and then right back up if that matters. Any help is appreciated
