I have a 90 240 with a redtop SR20DET. I had just changed my oil(5w30mobil1) and my car is now smoking. It appears to only smoke when free-revving the engine. It doesn't smoke when the motor is cold, only when it heats up. Doesn't seem to be smoking on boost (Could just be diluted in all the exhaust). It smells and looks like Oil smoke. The smoke appears to be blue tinted. The motor does feel like it is running smooth and as strong as its ever been.

I do not seem to have Oil in my BOV or intake track.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should begin to look for the cause of the problem. Is it possible that the smoke is coming from the turbo? Are all of the piston rings messed up? Head Gasket or maybe warped heads? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

blue smoke does mean oil i believe. compression test your motor. also maybe changing to synthetic now was bad and now its burning oil because the oil is less thick?

I agree it sounds like turbo problems, pull the boots and exhaust manifold outlet and inspect it , you'll probably find the exhaust side is black and crusty
