SR20DET smogging possible in CA?

Not without some kind of "hookup".

ALthough, if it had al the fedarally-mandated smog equipment retrofitted onto it, and it'd pass the sniffer, I don't see how they can fail it.

it is true unless you got a hookup. i used to work at a car dealership that did smog and didnt have to test at a ref spot so i did it at work with another tech. it cost me $50 and a soda. lol

You need all of the California emissions equipment to pass sniffer test.

To pass the visual.....you need to find a tech who does not care about what engine is in the car.

You'll need someone who will overlook the visual at the very least. Expect high NOx if you're running just a stock catalytic and downpipe.

Once you upgrade anything else sans an intake, you'll want to find someone who will be willing to take another car up on the rollers.
