sr20det s13 idle like s*** and black smoke

I have a 89' 240sx w/ a sr20det s13. my car runs like s*** and black smoke really notice during idle, when i rev it up to about 1-1500rpm the idle goes back to normal and no black smoke.

i want to test some sensors and the coil packs but i don't know any specs.

any idea what the problem is and/or where can i get info at?

did you just install the motor ?

if so double check the obvious...back track also.

i installed my old sr20det in 2 hours and rushed through it and criss crossed my MAF wiring and it caused the same for me. So....after hours of swapping coils and redoing timing about 7 times. I found it criss crossed the MAF wires because i was making them longer and mixed...just a history on my exp.

Yeah i installed it self everything went fine the car was good for a couple of months and it just ted doing this
