Hi, i just bought a 240sx w/ sr20det in there and these fools who sold it to me apparently used plastic tubing to relay the radiator house around the fan clutch to prevent them from hitting. Recently the plastic tube gave away and my car over heated right as i got off the freeway. I go hosing replaced immediately but now my SR20 is lagging a bit more. I thought it was me but i asked my friend who drove it before it over heated, and he said that it felt slower to him too. I tested it and it seems like the turbo doesn't as much kick as it usually did. U can feel the exhaust pulsing out of the exhaust pipe. Has anyone have this problem before? I'm bringing the car into my friends place to check the engine compression. Please help me out!!!

Sounds like you might have a blown headgasket. Does it still over heat? Is there coolant in your oil? Is there an excessive amount of airbubbles in your coolant when you have the radiator cap off? Possibly, rarely, but is ther steam coming out of the tailpipe? You could also check your spark plugs. If you do the compression test, fluctuating compression in the a cylinder is also a possible indication of a blown headgasket. In the worse case scenario possibly a cracked head. Overheating is a very bad thing for engines especially for aluminum heads and if you still have the paper headgasket. Good luck and make sure you post when you find out what is wrong.
