wow, i just had a new clutch installed when i got my SR motor and 5 speed conversion, and well i'll have my clutch pedal to the floor and shift from 1st to second, and it'lll totally grind, and not want to shift, and i double check to make sure my foot won't go down any more, and it buzz grinds again when i try to put it in gear again, secondly the stick shift lever has a free range up and down(vertical) range, as in its not attatched.. what gives>?

Even though you can't put your foot all the way to the floor theres an adjustment for the clutch pedal so you can push down farther. It sounds like your clutch isn't fully disengaging, so look up under your dash at your clutch pedal and you should see an adjustment, two actually.

And as for the up and down, there can be a little free play but if theres a lot, theres a little snap ring down there that holds the shifter in place, normally they don't break very often but anything is possible. So I would pull everything out around the shifter, as in the shift boot, center cover piece thing that goes all the way up to your stereo, then the rubber cover thing that looks like another shift boot, and then you should be able to see the shifter going into the transmission.

Looking down on it you should be able to see the play and if the shifter will just pull right out, then your snap ring is gone. It'll look like a round ring only with a gap and where the gap is there should be two holes on the end where the tool goes to squeeze it together to remove it. So if there isn't one there its possible during the swap somebody decided to forget to put it back in or put it back in wrong some how, considering it would have had to of been removed during the swap. Hope that helps.

the snap ring was off, but the thing is still grinding, not sure, i mean it's like i'm scared to shift into second, especially at low speeds when it is cold. i need to get more details on how to adjust the clutch.
