redtop sr20det basic bolt ons, gt2871r turbo, 850cc, z32 mafs. and enthalpy rom tune.

After doing my turbo upgrade, and getting my ecu back, I found that the car would not hold idle(would start but would die out).

Then checking timing marks, voltage on mafs, fuel pressure, and vac leaks. The car still not "hold idle." Then I unplugged the mafs and started the car and it seemed to run better

Then I plugged in the stock sr20 mafs the car started and idled fine, so I took it for a quickie and it was rich but drove ok until about 4k.

any info would be greatly appreciated.thanks jka

put the z32 maf back in start the car up and then unplug it..try reving past 3krpm..if you can then you wired your maf wrong and shorted out your ecu

I bought the color matched mafs wiring harness from phase2. but thanks for the info, I'll try it and post what happens.

alright if you are absolutely sure you wired it right..try cleaning the maf with electronic cleaner out of a spray can..also check your spark plugs to make sure you haved them gapped correctly..after an upgrade of what you just did you are gonna need to move to a different stage spark plug because you have a considerable more amount of power..i suggest ngk iridium heat range 7's gapped to 28-30..also are they injectors brand new? your not on the stock fuel pump are you?...now that i think of it you said the stock maf worked better..like i said just try cleaning it first

the z32 mafs i bought is brand new from napa and i cant imagine that the spark plug gap is that off for the car to just idle out. also the injectors are brand new. the only thing i can think of doing is rewiring my stock fuel injectors back in with the stock mafs and stock ecu to see what will happen. because if it works with all those stock parts back in, that would make me think its the enthalpy rom tune. even though enthalpy said they checked my tune in their records and said that everything looks good for 850cc and gt2871r with z32 mafs. and yes i have a walbro 255. thanks again for the help, jka

make sure you didnt get the n60 maf. it might have been a mix up at nappa. it happens i work at autozone.

also just check everything out. since you got the ecu back from shipping... i mean anything could have happen to the ecu while you took it off to when you got it back. check the pins see if theres anything bent. loose connectors and whatever else. you should still check what kind of spark plug enthalpy tuned for you ecu.

most likely it would be either the ecu or maf. since you said it starts but wont idle or stay on when maf is plugged. and starts fine when maf is unplugged.

or you can just sell the car to me ill take it off your hands.

oh ya i always forget to mention make sure that you have your ecu plugged in correctly..it has happened to me where the ecu plug sticks out more on one side and does not make a full connection which will obviously cause problems
