Searching didn't give me what I was looking for, so I have to ask...

Please state what SR20DET you have or will be getting(redtop, blacktop, S14, S15), where you got it, how much you paid (optional), and your experience with the place you got it from, and any additional comments that would be usefull for people in who will be looking to get an SR in the future. Thanks

Joe

Hey,

Lemme just go ahead, and retype stuff that I've already typed before in other threads. Then again, on second thought...

[edit: I thought that I could find a post where I already summed it all up, but I guess I gotta retype it.]

I paid $2600 for a 92 Coupe with Cusco front and rear strut bars, Whiteline front and rear swaybars, Whiteline tc and lca bushings, moog tc camber adjustment plates, Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, brembo rotors, Hawk RPS pads, new Bridgestone Z-rated somethin or anothers and a blown engine. Oh yeah, the body and interior and all that are in perfect shape.

I recently paid $3060 for an S13 redtop front clip, water pump, gasket rebuild set, and shop manuals. I got some HKS Rocker Arm Stoppers, and there is a Greddy Oilpan, valve springs, lightened flywheel and an RPS clutch on the way.

I hope to have the car running by the end of March.]

did jwt ecu reprogram taking away direct fire ignition and using rwd silvia Q distributor/wires....

the place where i got mine is called The Show Zone...they do awesome work...they have done 3 sr20 swaps...but know what they're doing...its just that people around here talk about getting stuff and never do it...if u got the money, they can do it all...i paid 1000 to put it in..

Since I was the first person to do the swap around this area of town, no one had a clue what to do with the engine. So basically what I am saying is that I got RAPED real hard. Its still hurts.

1991 240sx HatchRedtop SR ($2900 CDN, so like $1900 US). The experience was brutal. The turbo came seized, missin MAF, ingnitor chip and a fried ECU. It had saw dust in the coolent inlet to the engine, and none of the pipes or hole in the engine were covered when it came. They replaced the turbo and the ECU, but I was on my own with the ignitor chip and MAF. It was from a company called TUNERWORKS in Calgary although they got it from somewhere in Cali, and he wouldn't tell me where.

The install was alright, although it took 2 1/2 months becaues of waiting for parts and what not. And the install is where I got raped. Including clutch, machined flywheel, all custom intercooler piping, 3inch downpipe, exhaust install, ignitor chip, and painting of the engine, it cost me $4500 CDN, so like $3000 US. Yeah, it still works. Although this started a slight trend in the city, and any other swaps thereafter have gone to this place, so nearly 100 hours of labour was free afterwards. :) That was about the only good thing. But my *** still hurts from that raping.

SRBURG13...That SUCKS!! Sorry to hear that.

I bought my 1990 240SX 2 weeks ago, the head gasket was shot on the car, I got an amazing deal, the body is MINT and only 120000KM's not miles!! The same week I bought my SR20DET with transmission and starter for 1900$ CDN (1200$US)with blown turbo, cut harness, no ignitor chip, no MAF.

I pulled the stock motor, cleaned out the engine bay.

I am reabuilding the SR20DET as we speak with:

-JE pistons and Eagle rods (1800$ CDN)-Clevite bearings (~200$CDN)-Gaskets(~200$CDN)-ARP head stud kit (210$CDN)-Machine work to bore the Cylinders(240$CDN)-Labour to dismantle and rebuild the motor(500$CDN)Total~2000$US

I will not have A/C or Power steering, this is my weekend car, I do not care about parking the car at the mall, it will not go to the mall! Once the car is in motion, steering will be all good.

I am using the Haltech E6K for engine management 1000$US for the unit plus 900$US for installation and full dyno tunning.

I will have a Custom Fuel rail, with 720cc injectors, bosch external fuel pump, new lines 650$US.

FMIC with custom piping and BOV 600$US.

Nice Big Turbo of which the specs will remain a secret! (I got the MOST amazing deal on this it's not even funny) 350$US

Tial WG 200$US

Custom intake manifold with shortened runners 250$US and Custom exhaust manifold 250$US.Custom 3 inch turbo back exhaust 600$US

So let's say 8000$US so that means for me it's 12800$ CDN.

Some people say "Wow, that's crazy, how can you spend that much" But I mean, my previous car was a Ford Focus, I had turboed the stock motor myself, had 235whp with it, but there was an electrical problem and it cought fire. I ALMOST bought a used Focus, it would have cost me 10000$ and I would have a 110whp piece of wood.

Here, I am spending 8000$ US to have 450whp street driven RWD car. Sure, the motor and everything else can handle more power, but I just want 450 to the wheels, reliably so I can drive like I want.

Fewf, I think that basically sums it up. :D

NOW, on to suggestions. What I would suggest for anyone just looking to have the SR20DET into their car, and have some basic mechanical skills, good budy to help out and some tools, is to buy a complete front clip. This way, you will have ALL the wiring, the ignitor chip, the MAF, the intercooler and pipes, the Rad that has the correct location of inlet and outlet tubes. Basically everything, and since you are basically just taking it out of one shell, and putting it into your car, it's pretty much straight forward, you take the part off the clip, and go install it into your car at the same place. :D

Some places sell a "Complete" swap, but sometimes, it's hard to know where everything goes if you want to takle the job yourself.

I would have been able to get a complete front clip for a Silvia for 4300$ CDN so 2700$US.

That's it, I'm done! :D

S13 Blacktop 3678 + S&h Including Clutch Fan And DownPipe From Heavy Throttle. They then told me i needed to send $100 more.

Motor arrived to the shop several days late, bumping me down on the schedule. Motor arrived, Valve cover damaged from Shipping.

Almost six months later, i paid the shop $1300 for the install. Read my webpage for all the gory details.

1989 240sx Hatchback (grey) with a blown motor, $400. Redtop was $900, no harnes, no CAS, no coilpacks, no nothing. Bought everything from The Toy Shop in AUD and got it at a good $500~$600. Also bought a set of revalved Tien HA's and Cusco upper mounts for $700. HPI Intercooler for less than I can say, and a couple of other things. In total I would say I have spent $4200~$4700.

ps. I am very Happy to be part of this thread. I finaly got my SR running yesterday, and drove it to work today. The power is great, even though I dont have brake lights and have a ghetto starter signal wire (help), I still love it.

I got my 92 240sx se with blown motor for 500bonescomplete clip for jdmrecycler for $3800 included silvia body work and a toasted clutchgot clutch for $320,LSD $169, complete diffintake adapter $9Downpipe 129testpipe 89apexi gt spec exhaust for $550I would recomend jdmrecycler to anyone and everyone. One of my fenders was messed up and they have a new one on the way to me. Also danttless was a great help to me and i would have stayed with him had it not been for the war thing going on, Im military and ready to ship outAlso my swap to me less than 2 days to pull the motor from the clip, install it in mine, wire car up, and swap body parts. Very easy swap, a bit harder than a honda but not to bad. I would never atempt this swap without a front clip. as there are tons of parts that will nickle and dime you to death. Mine was very straight forward
