So I have a little problem. I don't have rocker stoppers on my SR and I was messing around yesterday and hit some sand, lost some traction and it revved up to around 8000rpm. Well started running on 3cylinders afterwards, found out today that a rocker popped off, and those little discs are gone/broken.

Now my question to you all is...

What are the correct term for these discs, and where could I find them?

- Thanks in advance!!!

One is a shim, the other is a rocker arm guide. Are you asking where to find them for purchase, or where are they in your engine?

If you're lucky, they got stuck in the head somewhere. If you're unlucky, they made it down the oil return channels and are in the oil pan. I've seen shims fall through and get hit by the crank and do a little damage to the bottom of the cylinder bore before, so be wary when you go hunting for it.

I am asking where they are available to purchase. I know where they go, and what they are just don't know the correct name for them. But I need to either buy 2 more, or something?

Oh and hopefully they are still in my head, worst case scenario then they are in my oil pan, I will have to drain the oil and etc..

Yeah the cam has a little wear from when it happened, the head does have a few indentations. Oh and don't worry I am gona get some RAS's as I find 2 more discs lol.

Oh and otterman I am aware there is a certain way to put these in. Just need to know where I can purchase them since I can't find them.

I can't remember what website I was looking at them on the other day. A quick Google search found this though:http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=5834

Hope it helps

you can order them from any nissan dealer. However, without knowing the specific shim height, you'll have troubles ordering.

Okay I have most of this figured out. Another question though... Is there a guide/picture somewhere on the net or out of a book where these specific shims go? I will be measuring the ones I have, and whichever one I'm missing I will be ordering that one, kind of crazy at 8$ a piece, but very crucial as I am experiencing. Thanks!!!

You have to measure the shims, then measure the distance on your valves...

Or something like that, it's a pain in the ***. I sent my head off to get it done, forget all that.

I see. But thats really not an option right now. I just want to take the cams off, then do everything. This is kind of ridiculous, wish I would have known this first haha. =(

we have these neat things called service manuals which can be found here or here

Find the one for the S14 SR20DET and it will tell you that you need to measure from the top of the rocker guide (shim with the cutout) to the top of the adjoining valve to get your shim height.
