There is the video^

Here is a more detailed explanation:

Before the engine is warmed up these symptoms are far worse compared to when the engine is warmer.

The engine idles perfect, however for example I will revv it (in neurtal) to say 5k.
It revs up fine, but on the decline the engine pauses at 2k for a full second or two. EVERY TIME.

Also, the car almost dies when revved the same way, I was told it was due to having a bov not recirculated and I am content with that problem.

The pause at 2k rpm is annoying the hell out of me tho, Any help or troubleshooting tactics would be amazing here!

Thanks all!

I would check the solder joints in the maf and see if any are loose. If your not sure how to do this check you tube for "how to repair mass air meter"

Running rich could be any of the sensors but running rich is not going to intermittently not allow your engine to rev. I've had an SR in my car for 8 years now so ive experienced many of the common problems. What have you tested so far?

Whats up man,

Its not actually the revving thats the problem, the engine revvs up fine.... Its when the rpm's drop ,from say 5k, that the idle hangs at 2k for a second then back down to normal idle 900 rpm.

I sprayed the MAF with MAF cleaner, the problem still occurs.
The IACV- I tried to adjust, but cant tell what its for. When the screw is turned what should one look for changes in ? The current idle? Or the return idle.?

Also, This problem is only significant when the engine is first started(cold). Once warmed it goes away/..well...gets 10x better.

What wold cause that, If it was a sensor wouldn't it happen regardless of cold/hot?

Could the TPS cause this? What issues would a faulty/improperly adjusted TPS cause?

Thanks for any and all info man, this is my first SR,..3rd 240. =]

From your video it seems like it doesn't want to go past 2500 rpm intermittently. But the hanging at 2k is usually tps not set right. The base idle cannot be properly adjusted by just turning the screw. I would check the tps voltage and reset if needed, then go through the adjusting idle and adjusting timing procedure in the fsm and get back to us.

What would make an sr20det run like s*** on cold starts? but run flawless when warm.

When I first start the car, the idle will raise to around 1k for a couple seconds then drop down to like 500 rpm and even lower.

The car isn't going into "warm up mode" so to speak.

Tps is set at .45

Since the idle is better when warm, I'm guessing the iacv is adjusted right as well.

What could be the problem i'm facing here! a bad sensor? which ones deal with cold idle?

Any ideas I get I will try and will post back with results wither or not they worked!
