SR20DET RED TOP, BLACK TOP?

Kind of new to the whole engine swap thing, because im getting ready to put a SR20DET in my 1996 Nissan 240sx, and i dont know the difference between the Red/Black Top engines, i think or know dont know but i think the Black Top comes out of an S14, And the Red Top comes from a 180sx/240sx. But is there a difference like in the way it sounds, year, model, and or performance wise. If you can get back to me on that i would very much greatly appricate that. THANK YOU.

since no one would answer coz you are a so called "noob" (by them...) ..i'll help you out...... S13 (nissan 180sx 240sx 94 and down ) use this engine is less powerful than s14 but is easier and cheaper to swap .. S14 (zenki 95-96) is a little more powerful around 220hp and a little bit expensier when it comes to wiring .. also a little bit more complicated...... then S15 comes from silvia (97-99 or 2000 i dont recall) and is 250hp but is 6 speed and i heard is more of a pain in the *** on the wiring.. all the engine itself are easy to drop and install.....but wiring is where the hard parts begins!good luck! pmed if needs more help!
