very odd i just rebuilt my motor and everything is hooked up. It is in time, it has spark, and its getting fuel. I have a greddy style intake manifold and im not sure if i have the 2 fast idle hoses on the intake manifold. if they were backwards would that stop it from even trying to start?

Thanks for anyones help

Double check your timing agian and make sure your CAS is lined up correctly. I had the same problem when i rebuild my buddies SR and it wouldnt start either. And it was the timing.

It's possible to have it 180 degrees out of time. It'll look in time on a light, and you'll be getting spark, but you'll smell excessive fuel and have some weird popping and chugging coming back through the intake tract.

Once you've verified with a light that you're in time, then you can say you're in time. Simply putting the CAS in by the service manual doesn't get you in time, it just gets you close. And if you happened to be off a tooth on the CAS gear (which is possible), you'll find yourself in the realm of either 5 BTDC or 25 BTDC. Neither are fun places to be. Getting my motor rebuild to start took the better part of an evening because of timing issues. My ignitor had been wired in in reverse firing order, so factory installation always put the CAS out by 180 degrees. That always makes for fun issues on a first start.
