I have been working with my ka24e for a long time, like 1.5 years and it keeps breaking on me, and im fed up with the fixing, i want a sr20det. I want some horsepower but i don't wanna go crazy. Anyone know how much i would need to have fun as far as doin a qaurter mile in 13-15 seconds. Im pretty mechanically inclined and i have quiet a few freinds that have hands on experince with sr's just wonderin how much horse power i could get outta an sr with about 3 grand put into it. ok thanx

Whell there is alot u can do with 3 grand. But always start with the basics. Do a basic tune up.-FMIC is a must anyware from 300-900 dollars depending on the brand.-Turbo back exhaust (turbo outlet,Downpipe,Strait pipe(or cat), And exhaust system(My fav one is the Blitz Nur Spec for 180sx or 240)-The stock S13 turbo is pretty gutless so i recommend upgrading to either a used s14 turbo(if u are short on cash), or a new s15 turbo can range from 750-900 dollars new.For 350hp+ i like hks gt-rs turbo.-If your boosting above 17psi i recommend a new head gasket.-Fuel wise your gonna want to upgrade your fuel pump. Walbro 255 is cheap and effective. But you get what you pay for so i would go Nismo or Tomei. (most aftermarket fuel pumps will have great wining noise .-Fuel injectors is an easy choice I chose nismo 555cc injectors that are plug and play (no splicing wires ex. sard).-But with all of this your going to need your ecu retuned or your gonna need management.-If you can get a Z32 AFM (huge difference in power/ response Get your ecu tuned though)

All of these items probially add up to more than 3k but i will show u what i am running.

-Sr20det (redtop)-Blitz FMIC-Apexi S14 w/ Z32 AFM suction kit (Intake)-S14 Turbo-Trust Turbo extension-Blitz downpipe-MR strait pipe-RS-R catback-HKS BOV-NISMO 555 injectors-NISMO Fuel pump-NISMO Coppermix Clutch/Flywheel kit (rs420)-Yashio Factory coilpack +-Blitz Boost Controller (running 1.1 low - 1.3 high bar or boost)-Tomei 1.5 way LSD-HKS 1.2mm Headgasket-E-5 ecu Tuned by Rio Car AV Square/garage (I live in Japan )7700 rev limit, no speed limit, upgraded fuel maps

More than enough power for a gutted 180sx.

If your looking to run 13-15 in the quarter yo dont need to spend that much money like the guy above has. Ive seen a Stock SR with a FMIC VLSD Fuel Pump and Upgraded clutch run 13.8 in th 1/4.

alright thanx appreciate it, one question, my car that i have now is russted ont he bottom bad, my plan is tobuy a new 240sx later and take the engine back out and to a complete upgrade to put as much power as i can in it. My question is this:I know the sr motor is tuned to use the 89-90 gauge cluster, which one do i need and whish model of the 24osx is that gauge cluster stock??

i believe that sr's need a 91-94 cluster (dohc). any model 240sx cluster should work. they're basically all the same with the exception of digital coupe ones that suck and never light up . if your going to get a new chassis i suggest u do before u get the sr. no point in doing the work twice.

You have to use a DOHC gauge cluster for it to work.

If the fuel pump is bolted straight to the body without rubber grommets, it makes a very loud noise. Once the pump is isolated using grommets, it makes less noise.
