Hi people, i'm Bruno from Portugal and i'm new here! I have a very big question/doubt! I recently purchased my 2nd Nissan 200SX (Silvia) SR20DET, my first broke 2 engines (don't ask me why, i had it almost completly stock, just had a 3" pipe from the downpipe to the back without cat! Both times broke at +/- 7000rpm in 5th gear, it started to work like in two cylinders and making white smoke and it was 2 different engines!) But i loved the car so much that i had to buy another one and i'm afraid that this can happen again! Any ideas, recomendations for what to do to prevent anything to happen? The new one is from 1994 and has 100k km, it's completelly stock, but i want to make a few mods so it runs better/faster. Sorry for the long post and bad english, but i really need advices so it doesen't fail like the last one!

Thanks Bruno

don't rev past 7k and blow your headgasket.

But if i put in a new and better head gasket, rocker arm stoppers and a oil cooler and gauge, will it old? Because for what i wanto to use the car, i'll need to be past 7k rpm for some long periods (+/- 15 to 20km long)!

7k in 5th gear...first off, how'd you get past the rev limiter, and what business would you have going over 120mph for extended periods of time? Please do note that by doing that you're gonna put your motor through hell.

Well, having the ecu stock, the car is limited to 7200rpm... let's say that the place where we like to test the cars is about 15km long in a straight line and i want it to hold that! If every other cars that go there resist, even stock (most of them) the 200sx has to resist to! But why do you ask about the rev limiter? Where is yours? All the Nissan's here in portual came limited in every gears at 7200rpm, even 5h, that's about 145mph +/-

Oh ok, i didn't knew that! Here it already comes with no low rev limiter, but many engines brake (a friend of mine yesterday has braken his 3th engine! His only luck is that the car is still under warranty...)

I would suggest buying a metal headgasket and some ARP headstuds. Torque em down to 60-80 ft/lbs and that should get you on your way to your speeding madness. lol

also I'd do some rocker arm stoppers if you like the high revs
