hey, i just bought a 89 piggy with a Sr. it doesnt have have ac nor ps. I just bought a ps pump with a matching bracket for the sr. and the car doesnt have the sohc ac lines so im going to purchase them as well. but i need a little help with both ac and ps installation.

im going to do a DIY for both of these with pictures since there isnt a clear way to do this.

but...

i how do i go about installing ac?? i believe the dohc lines wont plug into the firewall ( where the ac lines go to the interior of the car)

directly on top of the fuel filter the two ac lines where it meets the frame. those are for sohc. i dont think dohc lines can fit on there. unless im wrong? if not. then could i use a sohc compress with custom brackets? or if dohc lines can fit. ( assumming they will fit to the dryer and etc) i can just use Codyace's brackets for the dohc. but i believe i read somewhere that dohc ac lines differ from sohc ac lines. (from both ends; the pump and the fittings)

or should i use a sr compressor?

how would i go about doing that? i doubt neither dohc or sohc ac lines will bolt up to the sr compressor lines.

as for power steering

i have the hicas addition one. like so

my question is, where do the lines go from the top of the pump? those two bronze, circlish ones.? i

the side line goes to the resovoir and the other line from the resovoir does down to the rack n pinion area. but where do those two lines go??

heres a better view of the ac set up.

If your sr compressor for the sr works then I would use it. Having examined both the SR compressor is smaller and a hell of a lot more effective than the big and heavy KA compressor. You will have to get custom lines made for the AC no way around it -- cost should be 100 bucks give or take and you will need the sr end links and the ka sohc lines that run to your chassis if they have not been replaced with dohc lines. Besides what everyone on here says the best way to run ac on our srs is through the standard sr compressor no brackets. Since the brackets I am sure will come lose or break or whatever over time (as I put on my flame suit).

The power steering is simple -- one is high one is low and they hook straight into the rack -- you will have to bend your high pressure lines to clear the sr transmission or have custom ones made.

good luck

so i can use my sohc lines from the chassis to the dryer, but the one that goes around the engine block to the back of the compressor needs to be custom made? the sr end links, do those connect to the sr compressor? or are those a part of the custom line you have to make? which line needs to be remade?

and for the ps, both of the high - low lines connect to the rack? what bout the line that goes from the resovior to the rack? is that still the same? so theres three connections to the rack?

both ac lines on the sr compressor will need to be custom made but you will need to make sure your compressor works first and the lines plus recharge will be around 400 bucks if you know how to recharge it yourself you could save some money.

on mine there are sub lines that the reservoir hooks into and the high line runs to the rack ......

Here it is the front line is a hard line that runs to the power steering the feed line comes from the power steering container and the container has another line that runs to the rack as well. so from the pump only one line runs to the rack (high pressure) while the return line runs back to the power steering container.

yeah, the pump in the picture i posted has two high lines and one low return line. that is where im confused. why are there 3 lines on the pump? shouldnt there only be two like yours? the only i have is a hicas edition one and the one you have is probably a regular one. i need to know how to convert the hicas one to work just like the non hicas one.
