Let's start with:

How hard is it to re-route the intake so it sits higher?

What's the best way to tap a hole for an intake temp sensor?

Are any of you guys in Northern Louisiana?

i think most people just take the air intake temp sensor and zip tie it near the intake

Dunno why this is in the Engineering forum but...

Typically you want to measure intake temps near the MAF itself, cause this is mearly a calibration trim tool for timing and slight fuel enrichment curves if you use an aftermarket management.

However realize that on the turbocharged engine the inlet temps don't really reflect 100% on overall post intercooler charge temps. This is a result of the compressor efficiency, intercooler efficiency, etc.

On the SR20 engine the intake is already mounted "higher"? Any higher and it'd be through the roof. If by higher you mean further forward I'd suggest just looking into creating an airbox setup with a fresh air duct.

For setting up the intake temp sensor I'd simply just install it before the MAF in the air filter itself.
