I just want some input. NICO has the best members and that's what makes it the best forum.

I'm just trying to scope out me next project. I already have a fully built converted S13 Silvia with the RB20DET and I also have an AE86 1985 TRUE GTS COUPE that I have already begun prepping for a CA18DET swap but I've seen a N/A FC3S RX-7 that has been sitting in someone's driveway for months now and I think I might buy it. The only feasible engine that I can see putting in it is the SR20. I have access to an SR that I can pick up for almost nothing. Sound good? Let me know. I'm very mechanically inclined too so I don't need expense costs here just bonified feedback. I don't like hatchback style cars but the Version Select kit looks bangin on the FC3S. I'm almost in love.

Anyone got any PIC's?

LOL... I've been wanting to do an SR FC project for the longest, but I've always been scared of the purists... I have some Mazda friends that would forever hate me if I did it, LOL.

Such sacrilege! I love the FC & FD. The rotary motor is POWERFUL, it just needs to be babied and kept cool. In terms of reliability, i have heard that most rotarys need new seals around 75000 miles. My friends FC GT-X, ran with 220,000km before it went.

But to the original post, I'd like to see it. Make sure to post some pics!

Here is my car domain link: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2156820. I need to update the PIC's big time but I'm in the Army and I've been really friggin busy. She (S13) looks really sexy with the 20mm wide front and 50mm rear. The AE86 is coming along very slow. I don't have much time for her.

I will definately do this project. My mind is made up. I won't do the FD but I will try to jump on the FC if it's not gone already. The FD is too expensive just to pull the engine out. Something that new, I would just put new seals in but the FC I will do over completely. I want to choose the SR because I don't wanna upset the weight balance too much. RB+S13 makes for one heavy front-end and I've learned my lesson. CA+AE86 is a good balance too. When I come back from the sandbox (Iraq) next year I will definately tackle this project and post a step-by-step on NICO with a lot of PIC's. I hope no one has dial-up because my digi cam is nice!

i think youre inferring that its never been done on an FD. if so, it has been done.

haha. there is plenty of people who track their S-chassis' with RB's in them and they have no problems. i think its all in your head.

If slamming my car and then taking it to the track to get sideways and I still plow nose first occasionally and the taking note of it makes me crazy then I need therapy.

DRIFTING 101 SR20+S13=better weight balance.

i know of 2 guys just around here who have no problems with it. not saying it will feel exactly the same as with an sr, it just changes the characteristics of the car slightly. it shouldnt be that big of a deal, nothing some clutch kicks cant solve anyway. also, maybe try a bigger rear sway bar.

Some clutch kicks help but I'm running a Suspension Techniques sway bar.
