Anyone here with the SR20DET swap and still have the HICAS system? I've read that it should probably be avoided. Any truth in that? Thanks

It should only be avoided because it's a PITA to reach stuff on that side of the engine bay, like the starter, the oil filter, alternator, etc. Here is an install that Wayne did on a HICAS car.

EDIT: Looks like the JDMRice hatch is also HICAS:http://www.phase2motortrend.com/jdmricrictan.html

Thanks BuudWeizErr, The engine bay does look a little cramped. I wonder if its really worth the extra effort.

If you are going to be doing SERIOUS autox, drifting, etc; try to avoid HICAS, because as I'm sure you know, the rear tires turn a little bit side to side, depending on the sharpness of the turn to help keep traction and create a more controlled turn.... which is exactly the opposite of what you want if you are drifting. But if you just want to daily drive and drag race, it might not be bad to have because it will help out. Actually, if you're going all out drag, you might not want it because it is added weight.

It's really up to you.
