Need help, of suggestions please. My SR has been overheating for a while now. fans are working fine, no oil and coolant mixing. thermostat is working fine. but it heats up to the point that the coolant resivor fulls up and bubbles and the rad is empty. once i refill it, it lasts about a week and empties agian?.. any thoughts..

BTW, using a Greddy metal head gasket.

what kind of radiator are you using, and what kind of fans do you have? if your running stock components I would reccomend upgrading the radiator to a koyo aluminum, and upgrading the fans to electric fans. That is what I was told to do from the one of the guys from enjukuracing. I had a similar problem with my camaro, with the bubbling and emptying. I had a bad relay in the fuse box in the engine and it was causing some sort of malfunction to where the coolant was evaporating or something like that due to the heat the rad was taking on from the fans not doing their job. not sure if its related. but just my .02 pennies.

I'm using 2 Flexilite 12" fans, they are triggered by a sensor thats welded into coolant inlet on the block. I've also got a fairly large FMIC that is blocking most of the rad. when the car over heats i just drive faster and most of the time i can get enough air flow to the Rad to cool it down. then agian when there is coolant in the rad and its full the fans are enough to keep the temp. low during idle.. i just dont know how the rad becomes empty with no rad leaks, and why it bubbles up. My main concern or worry is that it may be the head gasket. if pressurised air is getting frm the engine to the cooling system that would suck. but with no oil and coolant mixing i doubt thats the problem.

the idots that installed it for me did not mirror machine the block and head so it is weeping a little bit of oil on the outside, but not enough to ever have to top up the oil between changes.

It sounds like you might have air in the system. Search around for how to get all the air pockets out of it

if there are bubble coming out from the radiator and it takes about a week to drain the radiator.... it has to be broken head gasket... because the bubble is coming out of cylinder compression, and the only way out is through the gasket to the watter jacket.but you said that you got gready head gasket, then the problem should be your block or head. the are not straigh.

The first thing I would do is change the Radiator Cap, then check the thermostat, if it´s working fine def. your water pump.

The hose from the block outlet to the Rad is dripping so I think ive found the problem. If anyone knows of a hose that will fit from the block outlet on an SR20DET to the OEM 1989 240sx RAD, that would be great. hopefully this will do it

i think XATracing.com sells the hose you are looking for, i know they sell parts that make engine swaps easier, and I am pretty sure they have a selection of hoses that should fit what your looking for!
