HI guyz,,,

after installing Trust intercooler on my sr20det black top,, when i redline and go for top speed, the car overheats like crazy,i didnt have this problem when i had the stock tiny intercooler,,

some people told me that the small custom piping i have done to connect the intercooler to the turbo and the intercooler to the throttle body is causing this problem,,,so wat do u think guyz,i have 2 inch intercooler piping,,does this size cause the overheating problem??,,cuz i saw my minifold the other day, and it was glowing red !

and what is the recommended intercooler piping for a 19" front mount intercooler ?

thanx

The problem is that the front mount intercooler blocks alot of the airflow to your radiator. Intercooler piping has nothing to do with a motor overheating.

tell "some people" to go jump off a bridge.... like j-spec said, the intercooler core blocks airflow through the radiator. get a better radiator, fan, or just plain cut some vents in the bumper to make the air flow past the intercooler and into the radiator.

I have the same problem in the summer. I have cut and taken the bumper completly off my car and still overheated (according to the stock gauge) down the highway in the summer. I have added dual flex a lite fans that run all the time. I also added a auto meter water temp gauge and it read about 210 when the stock gauge was up close the the H. I have spoken two HT and Phase 2 and they have not seen this issue. A shop here in KC said that it was the temp sensors. However HT said NOT to swap the temp sensors from the KA to the SR. I am in the process of installing a Koyo before the spring. We will see how it goes when it gets warmer out. Good luck man. I feel your pain.

I read somewhere that the sensor for the Heat temperature in the dash could be off if you swap like a s14 into a s13 but im not sure that is your problem at all. Just wanted to give you heads up.
