Ok so I just finished a head swap with tomei poncams . I did a fresh oil change on it it has a new oil pump etc. I did notice my oil pan does have a leak coming from the oil pan seal would that cause it ? I'm running synthetic blend 10w 40 with k&n filter . I also noticed my oil sender unit plug is broken down the middle but still plugs in . So where should I start looking to replace , I've checked the under valve cover cap and oil is coming out of my oil tubes . :wtf2:

Start with the sending unit. All it takes is for the sensor to be barely broken enough for any part of it to ground out and it will turn the dummy light on. You really should have an actual oil pressure gauge though.

I'm currently in the middle of installing my oil psi gauge right now trying to get this damn oil filter off ! Lol . Would the leak on the oil pan cause the light to flicker I wouldn't think so but I could be wrong . And as far as the sender unit goes its got two exposed spots of wire on it and the plug is completely broke down the middle were it connects to the unit

Ok oil gauge installed ,should I leave my unit unplugged or plug a new plug into the unit or should I put a whole new sender unit in ? And also will a KAsending unit work on a sr20 ?

Ok so here's an update a little bit of insight is gonna be needed on this . Ok I installed my oil gauge and on first start up the oil light came for a second this is on a cold start over night I made sure the head was still wet before starting it up . When I started it I had the oil cap off to see the cam tubes they didnt start spraying on start up it took a second and then normal flow . As I was installing my oil filter I could see two nice dents right in the middle of the pan right where the pick up is took off my pan , and I on the pick hole some of it was dented as well could this be whats causing my hestitant oil pressure problem and also at full temp at idle oil psi was at like 14psi and at 3k rpms its a like 55 to 60 psi . AND IS MY ENGINE F$&@ED because of this weird issue I really hope not ? I really need some advice on this please !

Anybody got some insight on this low oil pressure on cold start up or after sitting up for a few hours.

Id bang the dents out of the pan, refill the oil, and see what happens.
