Either switch to K&N filters for the 1" nut on them, or you can get a filter wrench adapter. The latter are the deals that fit snugly on the end of the filter and allow you to get a socket on them.

Second that, saves me 20 min every oil change and a hell of a lot of aggrivation. Also, has fittings for oil cooler which saves me headaches at the track.

Google search it. Oil filter relocation kit. There are 50 companies that sell them. I have the circuit sports, works great and works great with my cooler.

Removing the intake manifold support bracket helps a little. Hopefully that bracket is something Nissan put on there just for looks ... I've been running without it for a looong time.

Alot of people told me not to even put that intake manifold bracket back on the block when I was prepping my engine because of this exact problem with it getting in the way during oil filter changes.

Go with the K&N filter, it's a better filter than most and is way easier to remove. I was so happy when I found them.

You can punch a hole in it with a screw driver or try using a pair of Channel Lock Pliers.
