A guy named Gatecrasher on Fresh Alloy ran a 50 or 75 shot on his 2871R .86 SR20. Used an Enthalpy Tune, 740cc Injectors, and Wet Shot. Always go with a wet shot because it will automatically mix the fuel in with the nitrous giving decent AFR. Stock Bock SR, i dont think id run more than a 50 shot to be safe. Mazworx ran a 150 shot on there built SR20, but that was with like 45psi from a T88 too. You could most likely run more if you tuned for it and ran lower boost of course. Another thing, a good rule of thumb is for every 50 shot after the first 50 to retard timing 1-2*. So 50 shot can stay 15* (stock), 100 shot would be 13-14*, 150 shot would be 12-13*, and so on.

I was thinking about running nitrous to help the spool.. Put a window switch from say 2500~4500 RPM and let the turbo do the rest...

This would be pretty cool.

Edelbrock has a drift car and they did a dyno comparison of using nitrous and without using nitrous. On the dyno, the nitrous didnt help spool at all, it just gave a sh*t load more tq during spool up. Hit the same boost at the same RPM as normal. Ill see if i can find the article. Take it as you want, it makes it seem like boost comes on faster just because you have more tq which accelerates through the rpm's quicker.

You know... although not expected, its not completely a surprise to me. I would love to read that article if you can find it.

Do you remember if the torque values were offset up before the boost actually came on? Even if the full boost comes on at the same time, if you have a torque increase before full boost due to nitrous, then I think that is beneficial as well.

Found the article!!!

Google rocks.

And as I expected, you can see that even if the boost comes on at the same time, the torque increase before the full boost is HUGE. This offset in torque will result in a lot better low end acceleration before the boost kicks in.

So in conclusion, it is wrong to say that your turbo will spool up faster. However, you get a huge torque increase before full boost and that gives you better acceleration.
