I think I am retarded, I searched and still couldnt find any answers. But this info needs to be out there somewhere...

Does anyone know the fluid amounts for the engine oil, transmission, etc for a redtop SR? I need to do an oil change and I have no idea how much approx to put in, same with the transmission. Also any other maintenance requirements for the engine would be helpful.

Thanks

4 qts of oil. but if you didnt know most people would guess (for a general rule i start with 4 for a smaler 4 cyl and 5 for a 6 and 8 cyl) then start the car let it run for about 30sec turn it off and then check the dipstick if it is low add some more oil if its high drain some out.

lol changing oil is already a pretty messy job when u have to get down and take the oil plug out from the bottom pan but explain to me how hard it must be to drain a little oil lol... I can't imagine it being very easy to remove the plug then let some drain out and then TRY to screw the plug back in whilst oil is flowing out of the oil pan and all over your hands!

my friend who works in the quick lube at a local dealership says its pretty much impossiable to drain just a little out.....its to hard to get the plug back in with oil rushing out.

HAHAHA Jiffy Lube... I used to work there too. What a crap place, all the techs there barely know what oil is let alone change peoples oil. I left because they didn't like high paid knowlegeable people there.
