I have a S13 Redtop and got evrrything done to it. well it will crank up and Idle fine but when you go to give it gas it hesitates and doent wont to go above like 2kRPM and jumps and cuts out. I can unplug the MAF and it doenst change a thing even unpluggeed at Idle it Idles just fine with no jumping hesitating and cant give it no gas bc it goes crazy. So I changed the MAF from a SOHC KA24E and it didnt change anything either, still had the same problems.

Has anybody ever had this problem before with their SR, and if so what could I do to Possibly fix it? Thanks any help will be Appreciated

Check the connector then on both and make sure both MAF are confirmed working.

Having the same problem with my SR. Pretty positive it's the MAF. Test the voltage on the connector, then make sure the wires are getting all the way to the ECU. (Check for 0 ohms with a multimeter). If the wiring is correct, you might want to get a new MAF. Like a re manufactured one, not a used one that some one promised would work.

Ok I will check the wiring to make sure it is all the way connected, and for OHMS. Its just wierd though bc it idles perfect with or without it plugged in. Just under throttle it acts up. I can line up my points on Balancer for timing and remove the CAS and align the notch up where it is supposed to be and it will turn right over. Now when I retard the CAS it gets higher RPM's but still cuts out towards the top. i advance the CAS(Forward toward the Firewall) and it bogs down and RPM's wont go up. Could it be withing the timing Chain and gears being off? could it be 180 Degrees off?

Actually, that sounds more like the TPS.

Usually when you unplug the MAF you can sense the difference. Before you go through all this trouble, set your TPS correctly so you can be SURE that's not the problem.

How do I Reset the TPS? Ive never done it before. But their should be something wrong witht the MAF considering that If it is plugged in or not it will idle correctly. but under throttle is when it messes up after I mess with the CAS. Has anybody ever had that problem before? could it be in my wiring? I did the Cutting of the harness myself? Does anybody know how many ground wires are supposed to be on the Engine, and could that effect the way it idles when messing with the CAS? Thanks

keep it simple......If your car is in limp mode ,you engine will not rev past 2500rpms.So your problem is MAF related..As for engine harness ground wires,Yes they are very important.First check your MAF voltage and ground with DVOM ,If no voltage then check for continuity.IF voltage and no ground fix ground ,Dugh. There is allot of info here,Get a FSM pdf file search.1.Recheck your wiring to Maf and grounds,to engine and firewall. If thats OK then2.Find your self a sr20det ECU pin out.3.disconnect ECU harness @ ECU.4.find the 3 corresponding pins for the MAF at harness connector, and test for continuity to MAF connector PLUG,(3 wires, power to MAF,MAF ground ,MAF signal out.)

good luck ,keep it simple...

That fixed it. I undone my harness and and took off the tape and wrap around the connector for the ECU, and 2 wires wasnt connected leading to the MAF. Now runs good but It is revving up and down now like the Idle Control Sensor. could that cause it to do that?

yes sounds like idle air control valve,it diverts more air when you cold start in order to bring engine to normal op temp.

1.check coolant level.low coolant level will create air pockets ,so it will fool sensor .make sure you bleed all air out .2.check IAC valve gaskets, also check voltage .try that first....
