i'm wondering what are some of the limits of the SR, how much boost can i get outta the stock T28 and how much outta the block, head, and trasmission.......just wondering what is the weakest point of the setup and how far it sould be pushed until it's replaced or upgraded.....i know it's been talked about before, but it's quite sketchy.....i've heard that the transmission will go around 450hp, the block just before that, but i don't know about the rest....

The first thing that is going to run into a wall is the fuel system. After that it should be the turbo, then the head, the block, and the transmission. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure about the numbers, but there is always some play with them. Usually I hear about 350 on the head, but I've seen more.

My upgrades were done as follows:1. R32 Gtr Fuel pump2. Nismo 550 cc injectors3 1.8mm metal head gasket (HKS I think)4 Hks 8degree adjustable cam sprockets5 Hks cams6 Apexi Power FC/fc commander/fc boost controller7 Greddy TD06L2-20G turbine8 Greddy top mount exhaust manifold9 Greddy race gate wastegate10 Custom exhaust outlet/frontpipe11 V-SPL intercooler12 Greddy 100mm intake manifold

Somewhere in there I changed my suspension like 3 times until I got what I wanted (HKS Hipermax d right now), Put on Gtr Brakes and rotors, and put in some little stuff like gauges and stuff. Right now we have the car full torn down to prepare it for next years race season.

My suggestion is to start with the chassis. A fast engine in a crappy chassis is not only senseless, but dangerous. Fuel would be next, followed by turbo/intercooler and cams. Any 85 mm exhaust system is cool, but the straighter the better.

The computer should be adjustable, so as you make mods you can adjust it accordingly. That is why I went with the Power FC.

Just my 2 Yen....

are you sure about that 350hp for the head? i didn't think it would go that soon....someone on the site said in an older post that someone was running 409hp on an unopened engine, and someone else was running 8's with a stock head, but that was on a tube chasis or something....

Yeah i remember what post you are talking about. It was like 409.5 hp and they were trying to sell a ECM managment system or something. I'll see if i can find it.

how much PSI and how much HP can i get out of the stock T25? and is the Redtop a 2.0L? or 1.8L? i ask cause it was in the 180sx, and since the 240sx has a 2.4L, i figured the 180sx had a 1.8L.....

all the SR20 motors are 2.0L

hence the "20" in the SR20DET

the stock 2.4L is the KA24E or KA24DE depending on year

Oh no! LMAO  :D Doesn't matter about car name for engine sizing (sort of). Although the 180SX did come with CA18 as a base engine (1.8L)--the SR20 was also available with it. It's the engine code that is the engine size. CA18DET came in the early S13's (89-90). Then after that, SR20DE/T and CA18s were available for the S13. 180SX just means the japanese body style. 180SX is a 89-93 USDM 240SX HATCHback. The S13 Silvia are the same as 89-93 USDM 240SX COUPE. USDM 94 models are convertables only (unclassified). Sileighty is the mixture of both the 180SX and the S13 Silvia. The front has projector headlights and the rear has the hatchback.

so it was named 180sx cause of its engine size, it' sjust that they added the SR afterwards....and yeah i know about the "20" in SR20DET and that it means a 2.0L, it's just that something didn't add up.....i didn't know about the CA18....

Over here, if you see a sileighty with the s13 front, it is 99% of the time going to be a former accident car that has been repaired. In the states, they sell the 1-via, which is the coupe rear with the pop up headlights front. That car is unavailable here. There are 2 kinds of headlights for the s13, with the regualar enclosed bulbs and the projector style. The enclosed is rare, and therefore popular with the sileighty conversion.
