sr20det limiter? fuel cut?

so I been feeling kind of down lately. The other day I took my car for a spin at 3am on the freeway

I have no problem hitting 7k rpm on 1~4 gears but when I was at 5th gear at about 5k rpm and there was a cut off around there...? it didn't seem like fuel cut because the car didn't bog like it did with my hondas at 120mph (cl type s, integra, accord). Maybe it feels different on turbo cars? no idea!

so what could it be? and does it cut of by 5th gear rpm or speed? my speedo only goes up to 110mph and I am sure after 80mph it's losing its accuracy... the needle was stuck to the bottom of the gauge when I'm in 5th by that time
