sr20det legality?

yo guys,what makes the sr20det illegal to drive on the street. I know I can pass the sniffer test at my emissions place here in tucson, arizona. The visual test is the only part I am worried about. What do I need on the sr20det to actually pass the visual test legally or at least appear to have the proper emissions equipment hooked up.thanksda skiz

You need a KA is the short simple answer...but you can probably pass with the SR if you have the right emissions person. There really is no way to pass off an SR as a KA though if they see it...you can always get red of that nice red shiny valve cover, just strip it down to bare metal, it'll look more stockish...but you still have a turbo and a different engine/ecu etc. and it's pretty obvious that its not a KA.

hey BuudWeizErr. You have a sr20det in your 240sx. You live in California. How did you get by emissions? California is a tougher state on emissions then arizona, where I live. So man help me out, tell me what you did. thanks,da skiz

Doesnt someone make custom valve covers? Have them make one with something saying KA24DE Turbo or something gay that cops wont know(unless they know there S*it). The best thing to do is make the car so fast no one can catch you anyway to see whats under there.

could you strip the red paint and paint it the dull silvery gold color of a KA valve cover? The people who would inspect it dont have a picture of what its supposed to look like or anything do they?

heheee Since I live in Austin dont have to worry bout emissions test since the "average joe" doesnt know the difference between a ka and a sr. Its bound to come soon though.
