I found a sr20det redtop just motor and head for $500. I was wondering since I was planning on doing a build if this was worth it? Since I wasn't planning on using the stock maf, getting a better intake manifold, and upgrading the turbo anyway. I mean like since I would still have to buy the p/s pump, coilpacks, wiring harness, ignitor, stock turbo manifold, ecu, and the sr transmission and any other major parts i'm missing? In the long run would it be cheaper to buy a complete motorset to upgrade or this one to build up? Any insight would be helpful!

You can piece-meal an SR together pretty easily IMO. I picked up a blown block (crank, block, rods, pistons, and oil pump/pan) for $100. And then I just browsed eBay and our classifieds until I found the rest of the motor. All in all, it wasn't too terribly expensive, but I did buy the block to rebuild with an overbore and aftermarket pistons, so the blown aspect of it didn't bother me, hence why I was able to get it for a song.

Well this task seems quite daunting to me at sometimes, but I have till next spring/summer till my hopeful goal of having a sr swap. Seems in my head I would save on the cost of the $2000 shipped sr complete redtop, since i'd be throwing out so much. Thanks for the info man, since ya made the point of this site along with others and ebay, sounds like the parts availability is perty good.
