Now first I went and did the research that I could. Most things indicate that a common issue is that the MAF wiring is messed up. The thing is, the documentation I've read indicates that you'll typically be bottlenecked at 2500rpm and it'll behave erratically in the available operating range you have as a result.

In my case, I've just finished the wiring and gave it a start. The first time through, it kicked on and then died. The second time, it perked up to 1000rpm, decayed to 500rpm shortly thereafter and then died. I noticed a distinct odor similar to what I've smelled before with an overly hot cat. From the third try until the 6th try I did, it would start up, get to 1000rpm then decay to 500rpm and sputter roughly. Left alone it dies after about 20 seconds. If I floor it, it dies immediately. The exhaust odor is typical to what I expect at this point.

Now for things I've done in this swap, its a basic Red Top swap, stock turbo and SMIC. I've put on a Z32 fuel filter on my car, new oil filter, and new spark plugs (basicly I went shopping according to the "parts" guide in the SR subforum).

I've been following this: http://www.srswap.com/faq/index.asp#harness pretty much to a T and I'm probably blind and don't see it staring me in the face. There are only 2 wires I couldn't find a home for: on the harness was Blue w/Yellow stripe. Similarly, I have two total blue w/Red Stripe wires from the SR harness, but I couldn't figure out if srswap.com is saying to tie the two blue/red wires together and tie those in to the black/red wire.

So with this in mind, what do you guys recommend I look for?I'm getting back to work on it tomorrow and will be firstly checking the MAF wiring. After that I'm hoping to figure out the two orphaned wires (maybe someone knows about this?)Past that, just throw suggestions at me for what I need to look at.

Thanks!

what two wires and where are they coming from?

it could be a bad vac leak or mafs.

does'nt sound like a bad maf or wiring. I'd check for vac/ charge pipe leaks, do you have the idle control hose connected to the coldpipe?

They're on the SR harness: Blue w/Yellow stripe, and a smaller Blue w/Red stripe (theres also a thick blue w/Red Stripe)

The only thing I have connecting to the stock cold pipe besides the throttle body is the line for the wastegate. Is the Idle Control Hose the tubing on the valve cover that protrudes from the side?

Thanks!

Just got back, and apparently after sitting for the night, the sputtering problems went away, however when you floor the gas, it still chokes before it picks up, and its pickup is very laggy. So currently, I turn her on and she'll start right up to 1500rpm. Press on the gas it'll dip again, think for a second and then start to climb up.

Upon closer inspection, I found what I think to be the TPS to be without a connection to the wireharness (its a set of 6 wires that lead down to the throttlebody and a male connector). Unfortunately after picking around, I couldn't find any mating connector to it on my harness to plug in.

Update: After digging on the subject, somehow my swap had the Redtop TPS put on. Now I just need to figure out how to hack n slash the wiring to fix this.
