wow.

a) its a pointless question. everything can be replaced, what are you asking? don't get mad when people don't answer a question with no response...

b) you're just asking for people to make fun of you. you don't even know whats in your motor, but you want to tear it apart? take IvoryJ30t's advice and don't open your motor up man...

here ill humor him.

heres what you want to have replaced- cam gears, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, cams, valve springs, retainers, shims, valve guides, valves, head gasket, pistons, rings [upper, lower, and oil], wrist pins, connecting rods, rod and crank bearings, crankshaft, oil pump, pump pickup, strainer, oil pan, water pump, flywheel, motor mounts.

and if you get around to it, replace the oil filter also.

sr have timing chain

i agree with everybody who said you shouldn't tamper with the engine if you don't know anything about a engine internally....

but if you should replace any part, do take it to a reputable place that have knowledge of rebuilding a SR20det motor and not to some place that don't even know what a turbo sr is......

Rods, pistons, rings, rod bearings, maybe main bearings, and new gaskets (including a metal head gasket).

You may also want to make use of the labor of having the head off and go ahead and replace the valvesprings and do a mild port-n-polish on the head.

Hope I didn't miss anything.

good list, but dont forget the SR uses rocker arms!

updated list from the top down:

Thats a pretty good list, but dont foget stuff that dont get replaced just modified, Like Port and Polish, Stroker Kits, shave the heads, and items like rocker arm stoppers are always a good first item to install.

Yea, if you're wanting over 200hp reliably, you're going to have to get all that done. . . lol. . . yea, I heared that you have to replace the same stuff to get 400hp out of an rb26. . .

Seriously, we can't really tell you what to replace 'cause we haven't even looked at your motor. Every motor is in different condition, and needs different kind of maintenance. The stuff that's talked about on the forums are usually only common symptoms, and the motor you get may have totally different problems. One that is VERY common is the busted oil pan. Whether or not that dent in the oil pan happened during shipping, or while it was still running makes a BIG difference in approaching the tuning/maintenance menu.

Take that for whatever it's worth, but the things I would highly recommend that you replace regardless of the condition of the stock components are to change the head gasket to a metal one, install rocker arm stoppers, and a good radiator.

There, that's my $0.02
