okay, so i just rebuilt my motor, and i relized that my mechanical timing is off. i realized this after i had tried to start the engine a couple times. the thing i was wondering is since it's an interference motor, you guys think that i bent my valves from trying to start it?? it didnt fart or pop of ignite at all. just turned over. i have new valves in there (grex) and i just dont want to have to spend another 160 on new ones. thanx. -josh

A tooth off you could be fine, but i wouldn't want to run it like that for any length of time.

More than that and yes you'll break something.

No matter what, you're gonna have to pull the motor apart just to get to the timing chain, so you might as well pull the head and inspect the valves to be on the safe side.
