When shopping for an intake for the s13 sr20det is there a specific Intake you have to buy. For example do I buy short ram, Cold Air etc. And can I use a universal cone air filter and nissan adapter with this setup?

Daunt what Intakes do u sell..what kind, what comes with it, etc?

i think it might depend on what setup you are running. if you were using the SOHC maf then get one that would fit it, if you have 300zx then get one that fits a 300zx, i think.

Once you get an SR it really isnt the most important thing to buy a brand name intake like the NA guys who scrape for every piece of HP. Just get something that stops the crap from getting in, no tube is required since you would have to make extra holes for the recirc valve and the carbon canister air thingy. Just buy a filter like the ApexI dry one and strap it onto the maf. Or once you get standalone just run nothing:P

Run nothing so your compressor gets sandblasted and gets erroded away which kills all flow and efficiency. The Greddy and HKS filters are crap... heres a list of filters I would run.

1. Blitz LM Series2. Apexi Dry Series3. K&N

Dry filters are better cause it doesnt spray your turbo and MAF sensor with oil. However you have to replace them instead of cleaning them.

As far as intakes.. just get an adapter and the intake... there is not room for a tube like on the KA. Get a filter + adapter then make your own little home made cold-air ram.

So what is Daunt selling for 100.00?! (on his wesbite), a cone filter and adapter?!

But for 100.00 just a filter and adapter?

Also whats the difference between dry filters and non-dry?? Other than the obvious.

well considering the quality air filters range from the 50-120 dollar range, yes, just the intake and adapter.

non-dry (wet) air filters use an oil substance on the filter to 'catch' particles...ie k&n... a dry filter uses no oil, just the filter element...the oil supposedly does hinder the MAFS after prolonged use....

a quality dry filter is prob better, people will argue the K&N's are better since the oil makes them 'reusable', just wash, and re-oil, where as a dry filter might be cheaper, but has to be replaced when it becomes 'too dirty',.

my link for hte air filter comparison is not really working, but the HKS filter was the lowest rated...the APexi filter rated the highest....the metal blitz was pretty low on the list as welll...i use a metal air filter, and it doesnt filter much, thtere is a lot of deposits inside the MAFS and front of my turbo : ( im switching to apexi now.

Hmm what makes them quality air filters. I bought one from Discount auto parts (advance auto) for 24.95 was this a bad choice. It's by APC i think

its not a quality air filter, but it will do the job...you'll see that it will not filter as small microns as some of the other fitlers, and also not last quite as long as far as staying clean etc..im not sure if they are reuseable either....i know people who use the cheaper filters, and just replace them more often, they go to shows, and buy like 2 or 3 at a $20 or less, and just use a lot....a apexi air filter or another quality product can be used for a much longer time...., and like i said, can filter a smaller particle, ending in longevity...

hope that made some sense, lol...

but APC doent really make quality anything : )

Or you can go with the stainless steel mesh filters which are washable with water not oil. Like the Blitz(which I use on my SR) or the HKS is another place coming out with a quality one.

the stainless steal filters came in second to last on that test...(although i have used one for like 5 months), its obvious at how poor the stainless steal filters actually filter particles, when u take it off, and run your finger inside the pipe, or the turbo inlet.....They do flow air a little better, and good for track use, but for a normal daily driver, putting miles on the car, a filter with better 'filtering' qualities would be a better choice....but i do like using stainless filters for track use, but all they really do is catch large particles....ya know

I wouldnt know, my turbo was spitting out oil on both sides of the wheels so it was covered in oil more than anything else. :P Oh well, I knew they came in last but I already owned it. Next time (if there is one) I will get the ApexI.
