sr20det IN THE RAIN???? WIERD

i have 89 240sx coupe with sr20det welded diff. this morning it was raining like crazy and i had to get to work so drove.

this has happend b4 but i dont know what it is...

if it is raining hard my car will start making this wierd noise like a bump, bump, bump, bump. if i slow down it stops. and car runs fine

this is coming from the engine bay... i have a fmic

how is water im thinking getting into the system. i have k&N air intake as well shorty i think it sits about 1ft behind the left headlight i dont think that can be sucking in water though???

any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. and i wouldnt be driving it in the rain but its my DD right now:(

does it have a hydro shield. if it doesnt it is sucking in water.

not that i know of... i have never even heard of a hydro shield??? on the air intake? or the underskirt of the car? where does it go?

my homies intake is in the same place as yours. his car is the rsx thats about it.
