Could I get a SR20 to fit in my Del Sol? Also would I have somehow convert my Del Sol to RWD or is there somehow I can keep it FWD?

Thanks.

^ go there, read up. (transverse SR)

I think putting an sr in a Delsol is retarded, but to all his own.

Yes you can put an sr in your honda. You could fit pretty much any motor in any car if you have enough cash. The sr20det is also available in fwd so that would be a little more convenient. So no rwd conversion.

If you have to ask; no.If you're loaded, you can pay someone to do it though.

Why not look into a G20/Sentra, the 99+ G20T are badass. They are some nice cars. Believe me you won't look back on honda. But more power to you if you get the swap done, I wish you the best of luck.

hmmmWell... My question is why would you look to an sr20det when you can get in the same ball park by using a honda h22. 1) an H22 costs less then an SR20DET 2) The amount of money it would take to actually PUT an sr20DET in your car would be so recockulous, you would never want to do it and 3) The H22 is a 200+ Hp N/A engine that has kits available to fit inside the engine compartment of your car.

If I were in your shoes and I loved the del sol, I would go the route of H22 (if you don't mind a little bending here and there, removing the A/C unit and relocating the battery to the back). If you have an SR20DET already, then just put it up for sale here or on ebay, and you'll probably make enough money to cover an h22 and some of the install costs (assuming your doing it yourself). The H22a, in its early application in the prelude (in 1991) made 190 HP @ 6800 RPM (according to wikipedia.com). This later increased up to around 220 hp, but crap torque (about 160). Now this is a VTEC engine, but its not turbo'ed or super charged (which you can ALSO do to the H22 aswell, but you'd have alotta crap sticking out of your hood). Thats what you should be looking. But thank you for taking intrests in one hell of a motor.

I am also confused as to why you would WANT to keep it FWD, but thats just my own problem/opinion. Anyways, have fun!

AFTER THOUGHT EDIT:So then that would be crossing honda and nismo... wouldn't that be... well lets do the math:HONDA+NISMO=h0m0? lollers I say this in jest.

yeah i wouldnt even bother with an sr in a del sol. Too much of a headache, too much fabbing and too much money. Especially if you wanted to convert it to rwd.

I don't know if it will fit but you should look at a honda k20(3) from a civic si or a rsx type s. I know there are custom mounts and wiring available from hasport I think. These motors are great with some bolt ons and a little tuning you can get up to 250 n/a horsepower. Not a bad way to go if you ask me. Anyways just a thought

Ah, the old "Civic of the Sun", based on the 5th gen Civic.

Only part I disagree with there is that the G20 is a freaking tank at nearly 3000lbs. I personally would take an Integra over a G20 anyday, but that's not why we are here.

If you are willing to spend that sort of money I would highly recommend using a B18C engine from an Integra Type R. The engines are even more expensive than an SR20DET though (maybe that's why he is looking at an SR20DET). A simpler swap might be a nice and straight forward B16A. The 1994+ Civic Del Sols came with them, and it would be very straight forward. Another slightly more exotic is a B20B from a Honda CR-V, and attach a B18 head to it. Check the Honda forums for information on that.

I would also recommend against the H22. They make tons of power, but they are rather heavy. A B series would keep things nice and light. Also, I would follow up on aaronsnocker1's lead. Hasport has motor mount kits to put the H22 in the Del Sol. Also, they have a mount kit to install the K series in a 1992 to 1995 Honda Civic. Now the Del Sol is based on the 92-95 5th generation. I suspect that it might be possible to use those mounts on a Del Sol, but you would want to call Hasport first.

PS: Almost forgot: If you want to convert to RWD, my recommendation is to find a RWD car. I understand that drivetrain conversions are the hardest to do.
