hey im just now assembling my head, its the complete BC head package from enjuku racing. Im just confused at how to properly measure and Shim the hydraulic lifters. I have the factory FSM but cant seem to get a grasp on proper procedure. Any help explaining how to properly measure the clearance to be shimmed would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

I mention ways to do it in my SR rebuild guide.

But cliff notes for you:

You need a dial gauge. Nissan uses a specific mount to position it in the HLA hole. There are some aftermarket solutions for this. Someone was renting one on NICO a while ago I think.

Place the notched guide in place and measure the height of the notched surface.

Measure the height of the valve stem of the valve that needs a shim (the notched guide's pair).

Subtract the two numbers to get your shim thickness.

The shim is to help keep the rocker arm perfectly level under operation.

I have a less accurate way of shimming listed in my guide. I recommend the FSM procedure if you can swing it, but the method I've listed will work. Just don't be bouncing off the rev limiter.
