I have a 93 nissian 240sx with a sr20det swap. I just bought it and it kinda putted around, didnt think to much of it. The next morning it took me a few tries to start it it kept dying when i gave it gas but came out of it drove it to where i needed to go was fine just putted upon acceleration a little. I got in it tonight got it on the highway and started backfiring and putting bad, parked it turned it off and now just turns over no start. Its getting fuel and spark. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the putting and backfiring makes me think really bad exhaust leak. dont know if it would cause trouble starting though.

i'd check battery, spark plugs, and MAF (and clean it while you're at it)...maybe timing as well

Someone else told me it could have something to do with the timing. I changed out the plugs today that wasnt it, checked the maf it looked brand new. Right before it died and didnt start anymore I would push on the gas and it would die.

The maf sensor looked like it was brand new, so I didnt try to clean it. What would I use to clean it with?

check the gap on your spark plugs make sure the fuel lines are not binding up make sure your vacuum line leading to the fuel regulator is not leaking and i couldn't get my sr20 swap to start i was so tired after working on it for three days i had the fuel lines backwards i felt retarded...

some times its the small things that we all over look...

yea i would definitely check the timing, but you could try cleaning the MAFS first if you want. Possibly a bad boost leak that got worse once you got on the interstate...

Well I took the intake pipe off and sprayed starting fluid in it and it fired right up. I took the fuel line off before that and it was getting fuel, maybe just not enough. So a buddy has a fuel pump were gonna throw on there and see what happens.
