ok I went to start my S14 the other day and it started up fine, then it started to run like it was on 3 cyclinders and died. I started it back up and it was running on 3 cyclinders. First I checked the injectors and found that one was not working. So next I pulled the coilpack and checked it for spark. It had plenty of spark. So then I pulled the plug and check it for spark. The plug had spark. So then I got multimeter and check the wires to the injector and I got no reading. Does anyone know what this could be? ECU? Lose wire? Any help would be great.

Thanks,Dan

So your getting spark, but no meter reading? You are checking them with the car on correct? And make sure you back probed them all the way and check their resistance also. And if you found 1 injector not working 4 injectors - 1 injector = 3 injectors/3 cylinders.....

Yes I am getting spark but no injector reading on one cylinder. The other three are fine, i'm getting spark and injector signals. I am back probing the injectors for signal.

Does the injector show continuity on the meter though with just the key on engine off? This will help determine if its the injector or wiring.

Am I suposed to be checking in ohms with the motor running?

Just check in ohms with the key in the on position and the engine off. Then tell me what reading your meter puts out.

what should I be reading on the multimeter? AC? DC? OMHES? I get all kinds of weird reading in ohms.

I just checked and two injectors read 11.4 exactly and the other two I get all kinds of different readings

I just checked the ohms with the ignition off and two injectors read 11.4 and the other two I get one that reads 24.-26 and 34.-36.

hmm the 11.4 for resistance is pretty high. They make another meter to check injectors (thinks its a scope, lol its late) and you can watch each injectors pulse width and what not.

Does anyone know what my injectors should be reading when I test them with an ohms meter? Do you think that my injector is stuck open?

Thanks,

With the injector wiring hardness disconnected measure in ohms between the two pins on the injector. You should be around 10-14 ohms each. Make sure the contacts are clean and the engine doesn't have to be on. If you have one injector that's not in spec try swaping the "bad" one with the good one and give it a try. Then if that doesn't work we'll work it out backwards and test for continuity from the engine bay to the ECU wire by wire, step by step. Be patient I've been here before and I know how frustrated it is.

11.4 is in spec per the FSM the other two may be wrong part or they are no good. Resistance is too high if you measured correctly.

Yeah I got a feeling that two might be bad. I will take another look at it this afternoon once I get out of work. I wonder if it could be the ECU? I will keep you guys posted and thanks again for the help!

If the readings on the injectors are bad it is not the ECU, it's the injectors themselves.

It turned out to be one bad injector. I purchased the injectors from TLF Performance "Venom" and only put like 500 miles on the car and one injectors failed. Needless to say don't skimp on good name brand injectors. I ended up picking up a used set of Nismo 555cc injectors from a local person for a great price. Thanks to everyone for the help!
