so the other day i was driving and the hose going from the valve cover melted from being to close to headers....anyways i took the car home replaced the hose started it and this obnoxious loud clicking noise was there. when i rev up the clicking gets faster, and it seems like it sputters and dont raise rpms fastt. anyone know what it could be? im thinking valves, maybe timing chain? no idea im 17 and dont have much experience. Any ideas of the problem would be appreciated. thanks http://mail.aol.com/33069-111/aol-6/en- ... G_0547.3gp

Could be knocking. You should test the compression. I don't know if that was supposed to be a link to the sound or what, but it doesn't work.

im not 100 percent sure on the sr motor but if u have a big enough vac leak it will cause a loss of oil pressure and make ur timing chain loud just experianced it first hand good luck :)

If it is bottom end pull the. Plug to each coil one at a time and see if the noise changes or goes away. If it does change its bottom end. I'm betting with the way its running you have a collapsed lifter not allowing valves to open enough. A compression test should. Tell you which cylinder is affected......maybe solid lifter time?

compactfean is right. SR's have hydraulic lifters that tend to just randomly drop when they get old. Nothing to serious. Park it, replace all of them (not just the collapsed one), call it a day.

- These guys will beat any price - $49 per lifter is the best i found.
