well theres no questions like dumb question...so i have to ask....i bought a tomei header for my sr and never had problems (so i thought) . i was in the process of upgrading my t25 to a t28 when i saw my header was cracked also...errrr! i contacted phase2 to let them know but they have to go through a long process till i even get it back.. ok enough with the story, now my question...WHATS THE NEXT BEST HEADER TO BUY THATS NOT SO EXPENSIVE? OF COURSE I HEAR MR HEADER IS GOOD FOR THE PRICE BY HALF SAY ITS CRAP AND HALF SAY THEY LIKE IT? AND THEN THERES OTHER ONES TOO...ANYWAYS IT DONT LOOK LIKE PHASE 2 IS GONNA HELP, SO SHOULD I JUST REPAIR THE CRACKS? OR GET A NEW ONE???I CAN DO WHATEVER IT DONT MATTER..I JUST WANT TO HEAR WHAT SOME OF YOU GUYS WOULD DO> THANKS

There is HEADER paint I painted my stock exhaust manifold silver and it looks good! Make sure it's rated 1200 degree or +.

Sell me your tomei. I'll weld it and use it. It cracked because you didn't have your downpipe and exhaust braced properly.

There are a few people who had their cast iron manifolds extrude honed ported and the results are amazing. Getting it ceramic coated could aslo help with the ugly issue. This is the route I'll be taking.

I've heard that getting a flex pipe welded onto the downpipe also helps out in preventing the manifold from cracking.

What place are you planning on using for extruding and honing? Most I have found it would be cheaper for me to get the Tomei.

I was looking into it but true extrude honing is very expensive. If anyone knows of a good price please share.

The dp should not flex, that is what cracks manis and elbows. The downpipe should be securely attached with a transmission mount so there should not be any flex.

Extrude Hone porting

$495 http://www.gethoned.com/parts....otive$405 http://www.boneheadperformance...PRICE

Swain coating (thermal barrier) for those that are interested.http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10296

I believe bonehead performance also does ceramic coating if you want your manifold to look a little prettier.

I've never used any of those companies. According to CodyAce, there's also one in California, but I could not find it. Hope that helps.

For the price of a tomei i would keep it and fix it!!!

Also make sure that your downpipe has a support bracket and that it is attached to the tansmission brace. That will keep your exhaust from banging around and cracking your manifold again. hope this helps!
