my friend asked around at a local shop and they said that he would be fine running a t4 with stock injectors and stock sr ecu as long as he sets the boost at 6psi. i dont think its a good idea, any input?

Take a screw driver put the metal end on a injector/injectors and your ear on the plastic part and see if it a injector clicking(normal) . It could be a few things. ie:dry lifters..valves ..timming chane ..ext.. make a video and post it maby some will know the sound.

im not much of a pro, but i would suggest not turning the engine over until your certain the engine is recieving fuel. i imagine the noise is just dry valvetrain compnents like supreams14 suggested, if the oil pump wasnt spinning fast enough to supply the components, they might not of had enough oil in them which will cause some clicking until they are full again. i cant see the engine spinning from only the starter with all spark and no fuel to create bottom end knock, but im not sure. we all beat the hell out of these engines so there are lots of problems waiting to happen. you say that he replaced the fpr, so insure that it isnt defective and its hook up correctly, no fuel+all spark=bang. but hopefully everything is okay

I appreciate the help that you guys gave but however today I recieved the bad news that the head was starved for oil and that the problem was probably an ongoing one that just made the engine give up at that time. it had nothing to do with the FPR, or maybe it did. But there were aparently chunks missing out of the cam shafts.

Yeah the lifters have air in them. 1 bottle of Lucas fixed my head tapping right up.

exact same thing man...chunks were missing out of this camshaft as well. as far as i know we were told that the head was starved for oil, something about the squirters being clogged ....I'm not 100% sure because it wasnt my car but the guy just bought a new motor, because rebuild was too expensive. The only confirmed thing is that the head was starved for oil.
