ok i've been pondering on the idea of dropping a sr20det into a hardbody for a few weeks and i've finally decided to do it. with the help of a few friends one, a mechanical genious who rebuilt a 13b by himself at age 17, and one, asian(self explanitory), i will attempt a feat never done, to my knowledge, in middle tennessee. but i will not be able to do so without the help of my fellow nissan lovers. i will do as much research as i can on this but as i've looked here on nico found only one posting of a sr20det swapped hardbody. i will post as much as i can on the project as i go along but i still need as much help from you guys as i can. so if you know of part locations and tech guides and so on so forth on this matter please post away. i'm dying to get started so please help as much as you can.

First off, welcome to NICO! I'm glad to see you very enthusiastic about this build. I've seen people crop up asking a few questions in the past, but they never really reported if they accomplished their goals or not.

I don't have any how to's or parts guides specifically for doing hardbody swaps, but aside from the mounts and power steering, it should be pretty simple.

I can't think of anyone off hand that makes custom mounts, but I'm sure someone on the boards knows if someone has mounts or not. If not, fabbing up custom mounts isn't too terribly hard for someone with good welding skills and a good eye for modding brackets.

The wiring will be pretty straigtforward I think. I don't have a wiring diagram for a hardbody, but the EFI harness is pretty self contained. The main wires to be concerned with exiting the harness are the speedo wire, the incoming power wires for the ECU and ignitor as well as the signal wire going out to the fuel pump relay.

I'm not sure if the steering will be a problem for a hardbody. It's a tight fit in a 240 for the steering column and turbo. The column may be present a big obstacle to overcome.

I've always thought about doing this swap, but I don't have the means. Sounds like you do though, with friends who can rebuild rotaries and whatnot There used to be a Nissan hardbody around here with an SR swap and a few tweaks to put it at ~300WHP. Stock-looking, save for a slightly lower stance and (I think) some S14 SE 5-spokes. So clean, I wanted it

Good luck man!

Hey guys sorry i haven't posted anything in a while. I haven't forgot about it or backed out of the project, just been searching for a body. and i think i've found one. its a bit of a drive but i don't think i could find one for the price anywhere else. $400 for a 92 maroon hardbody with no major damage. i say its a steal. just have to get a trailer and a winch because it doesn't have a transmission. god it gets me motivated alot more now that i found a truck in good condition for dirt cheap. and good thing its tax return time because it will help me alot in getting the sr20 motor and transmission. wish me luck guys. and you all know projects take lots of time and money when you don't do it for a living.
