I did a search for this but I didn't see anything turn up.

I wanted to know though, since the G20 comes with the SR20DE would it still be nessasarily illegal to drop in the FWD SR20DET?

Dont flame me, I mean you no harm!

This has been done many times. The FWD SR20DET works very nicely and gives the G20 the power it needs. As far as legality, it depends on the state.

Basically its illegal in california where they check for emissions purposes. You can only have OEM engines in certain states. Other states it just has to pass, no matter whats in it!

I'll move this to the sentra forum....

It's not illegal if you can pass emissions, if your state has them. Your state may have a rule about the engine being older than the chassis, but I doubt that'd ever get checked, and you won't necessarily have an older engine than chassis anyway.

You could also simply turbo your DE.

Our SR expert/mod for this section has a Bluebird block, GTi-R T28, and some big freakin injectors, yet he can drive his car on the street. Albeit that it's OBDI, but that can be actually harder to pass for turbo'ed motors.

Passing emissions all really depends on the state, the particular area you are in and whether or not you even have emissions testing. The county that I am in doesn't do emissions anymore, although the vehicle was never registered in this County anyways, if you catch my drift.

The swap is very straight forward. No different than a 200sx se-r, b13 se-r or NX2K. It's not cheap by any means though and requires some knowledge about turbo cars.
