while im sure there is a more correct way to hardwire. the way i would do is take the positive and negative that come off of the pump directly and put them to a battery. (though im not sure if its a 12volt system or not, most likely it is.) but i would run the pump submersed in fuel so that you dont destroy it. and if it runs your good there. make sure fuel is getting to the engine. if thats good. then check the wiring out between the relay box to the harness in the tank (clawhammer had a good point that the harness could have been rubbed) simple continuity tester should work. if your good there, make sure the relay is good ( i know you said you replaced it)..... and another thing... im not sure if 240's have them but there is a switch in some vehicles that when there is a certain amount of force detected in a "collision" it will trip the switch causing it to kill power to the pump so as not to create a fire in case of a rollover etc. your "bump" may have set the switch off. if 240's do indeed have the switch. hope this helps.
