SR20det exhaust

My friends s14 is going into the shop for the swap at the end of the summer. He wants to buy a cat back now. The question is if he buys a 3"exhaust for his stock motor now will it bolt up to the SR20det? I think it would being a cat-back and all. Also where to get and what would be the best choice?
