Hey guys,

I picked up a 1990 240SX in awesome shape w/112k miles on it from a local shop. Since I'm cheap I went ahead and asked for the KA engine instead of the SR20DET. I figure since this is my first RWD car, and my first /real/ car that I should start out with the underpowered engine, then upgrade the suspension as I get better and then the engine.

In browsing around various places, I haven't found a clear answer: are the SR20DETs still made (as in brand new) or is any SR20DET upgrade going to be a rebuilt/reboared/etc second hand engine?

Thanks.

Not brand new. They're usually not rebuilt either, just pulled straight outta cars.

Granted, they're often pretty low mileage, but you won't find a new one.

hi, it's getting harder and harder to find low-mileage clips and motors.

a lot of the less-reputable engine sellers roll back the mileage on the odo when they import the clip/motorset.

so please, please, please be wary and buy from a reputable shop.
