I have seen on the internet an electric waterpump for the sr20. It essentially makes less resistance on the engine by eliminating one of the belts. Also there is a plate that covers up where the water pump used to be. Does anyone know what i am talking about or have the link??????

thanks

Meziere makes one for the SR20DE (FWD) They say the blockoff plate will also work for the DET. Only problem would be getting a smaller belt to work with. Also, you'd have to splice into the lower radiator hose, and i would not use that weak 21gpa pump that kit comes with. I'd but the blockoff plate and usee a 300 series 55gpa pump. That's just me though. I made a post on FA abou it:

Keep me updated. You do have an SR20DET motor right?

I would not suggest connecting an electric water pump using either of the radiator hoses. The thermostat prevents coolent from circulating to the radiator until coolent passing over it from inside the block rises to a certain temprature. Stagnent water in the block while the car is running is not good. Eliminating the thermostat to solve this would cause incredibly long warmup times.

Anyways, all the endurance SR20 powered car used in professional racing, that I have seen, use a mechanical unit in the stock location. Just food for thought.

You wussed out. All you've gotta do is drill some holes in the themostat to allow SOME flow to occur. If you've got an electric fan the warmup time would not be that crazy. But it will take a bit.
