sr20det dipstick

I tried the search engine but I didn't find what I was looking for.

Anyways, I just got a black top sr20det. I wanted to check the oil, so I took out the dipstick, but it took me around 15 minutes to put it back in. I doubt it should take that long, is there a certain way the dipstick has to be inserted?? Advice is appreciated.
