Hey guys my friend has a blacktop sr20det in his s13. It has NGK iridium sparkplugs, Walbro 255 fuel pump, and nismo 550cc injectors. We were adjusting the timining and adding new ground wire when we realized that the spark plug in the first cylinder has NEVER been fired. Its brand new! The other ones have black carbon deposits (normal), but this one is clean! We are aware it gets gas because the car fires fireballs and the other 3 cylinders are not running rich. Also the coil packs have been replaced they should be working as well. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

first I would check the continuity for the number one coil pack. Get a volt meter. I usually set mine to 250 or 100 DCV and touch one of the probes to the right pin on the coil pack plug and the other to the corresponding pin on the ignitor's output harness plug. If you don't have continuity, you may have a short in the harness.

another idea is to swap the coil packs around and see if that coil pack may have just been bad from the getgo (much easier).

last idea is to swap in a known to be good ignitor. the ignitor may have gone bad at some point since it sees a lot of heat under the hood.
